Itinerary:

This hike is part of the Field overnight trip. It's only a 45 minute drive from Field to the trailhead. The trail starts up through forest then opens out into beautiful open meadows as we hike below Dolomite Peak to Helen Lake. Then there is a short steep climb up to the ridge summit where the marmots usually hang out. From there it's a short descent to Katherine Lake. If there is enough interest I'd like to continue on to Dolomite Pass, or, if the group is large enough we can split into two. This can be discussed at happy hour on Wed. Last time I did this we were out for almost 8 hours including rest stops. Recent reports mention creek crossings so boots rather than hiking shoes are recommended.

From Field head back towards Lake Louise then head north on highway 93 towards Jasper. As you approach the Crowfoot Glacier viewpoint and Bow Lake look for the Helen Lake trailhead on the right hand side.
