Itinerary:

We have two fantastic interpretive hikes planned for this season with John McFaul of Alpenglow Nature Hikes. As many of our members know, an interpretive hike with John is fascinating. His in depth knowledge of mountain flora and fauna will give you a better understanding of the environments you regularly hike. A hike with John is an entertaining and informative experience.

Zephyr Creek and Painted Canyon (9.3km - 195m)

Enjoy a day exploring the pictographs of Zephyr creek. This is a flat, easy, valley walk up Zephyr Creek. However, to add a little adventure to the hike, a short fording is necessary crossing the Highwood River. Do not let this deter you from doing this hike. In August the river is very low (ankle deep check it out) and the crossing is easily done with sandals or Crocs. It should be a wonderful day learning about the pictographs and the people who made them. Carpooling is planned from the Anderson LRT meeting place in South Calgary. I’m looking forward to this hike!
