Itinerary:
From the trailhead, we quickly ascend via switchbacks mostly uphill through forested area. Toward the top, we cross a very short narrowish ridge and continue up a scree slope to the top. Our destination is an old fire lookout at the top of Mount Burke. We will have lunch at the top and enjoy the amazing 360 views. This hike will be done at a moderate pace, both uphill and back, with regular stops to hydrate and rest.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:The easiest way for most to access this hike is to drive south to Longview, then turn onto Highway 541 heading toward the Kananaskis. When you reach Highwood House (the junction between Highway 541 and Highway 40, turn onto highway 541, which is the gravelled forestry trunk road. Follow highway 541 past the parking lot for Raspberry Ridge. Stay on the road downhill and across a small creek. Watch for the Cataract Creek Day use area on your right and the entrance to the campground on your left. Follow the road to the campground. Park your vehicle on a parking space just before the entrance to the actual campsites, and on the right side of the road. Please be at the trailhead by 9:00 am for a 9:15 am start.
