Write Up:Alexander (Sandy McNabb) was a Scotsman who came to Canada with his 3
brothers and was largely instrumental in founding Turner Valley Fish
and Game Association. His favourite fishing hole was where the day
use area now is at the bottom of the recreation area. We had a great
day exploring the hills named after him. They are two fairly
substantial humps along the trail along with a 'nubbin' which is
definitely a hill in my opinion! After going up and down and up and
down we traversed the Long Meadow towards the High Noon Hills to a
spot where we had lunch. There was a very well trodden trail along
the high riverbank so we decided to explore it and followed it all the
way back to the first hill that we had climbed in the morning - this
one had to be climbed again to get back to the trailhead but we did
manage to skirt around the second hill and the 'nubbin' before that
;-)
The flowers are definitely starting to bloom and the trees are leafing
out too. It was definitely a day for Shooting Stars but we also saw a
few Prairie crocuses, Three flowered Avens, Violets, Cinquefoil,
Buffalo Bean. Our lunchtime entertainment was an energetic ladybug
which decided to walk along or walk upside down along a stalk of
grass.
