Write Up:
There was a chilly wind as we started on the trail but it turned out to be a beautiful day in our backyard. Almost warm enough for shorts by afternoon! There are so many trails in the area that we had a few 'variations' along the way but did manage to go and say hi to "Big Doug' and check out a few of the many lakes in the area where a couple of our group heard some frogs. Our stats were a wee bit more than advertised ;-) The group were okay with adding on an extra loop which turned out to be a bit longer than expected especially as some of the trail was non existent in places. Thank you to my fellow hikers for being so adaptable and helping with the route finding. Final stats were 19.8km with 590m of elevation gain (lots of little ripples). Moving time 5 hours, total time 6 1/2 hours. Don't let this put you off exploring a little known but beautiful area below Yamnuska as there are many options for shorter loops with less elevation.
