Write Up:Beautiful day for a hike! 11 of us met in the Brown-Lowery Parking Lot for a 10 am start. Up to 3 centimeters of snow had fallen over the past couple of days, giving us some traction over a frozen base. Starting temperature was around -1 degree. We hiked the perimeter trail clock-wise, meeting just a few folks along the way. At the junction of Old Mill East Trail, the group stopped to look at the remnants of sawmill which functioned on site from 1896 to 1915. We reached the Eagle Viewpoint just after Noon and stopped to enjoy a leisurely lunch while taking in the panorama of the Rocky Mountains to the west. Turning to look northeast, we could clearly spot the Calgary skyline rising above the horizon. With temperatures warming to about 5 degrees, the snow had begun to soften for our descent. We experienced it “balling up” around our spikes, requiring some taps to release any packed snow underfoot. We reached our cars after 1 pm, our spirits fully refreshed and invigorated by our hiking experience!
