Write Up:Day 2 of the overnight trip saw some of us meeting at Emerald Lake by
8.30am to ensure that we got parking - even on a chilly misty morning
it was already almost half full. We didn't get very far along the
shore of Emerald Lake before we had to don our rain jackets. After
crossing the alluvial fan and starting to climb the rain went off so
the jackets came off too. On the ascent we enjoyed the waterfall that
runs down from the Emerald Glacier, views of the mountains with their
fresh dusting of snow from the night before and an ever distant
Emerald Lake. After reaching Yoho Pass we did the short descent to
Yoho Lake where it started to snow! Raingear on again, a quick lunch
then we returned the way we had come. On our descent back to Emerald
Lake it was like a beautiful late summer day. The lakeshore trail was
busy so we hiked the xc ski trail back to the trailhead.
A 4 seasons in one day hike but very enjoyable.
