Write Up:
Five of us, including our guide, Lorraine, struck out at 8:20 am from the town of Field to summit Mount Field, in spite of overcast skies and rain. There were times when the sky looked promising. We reached the Burgess Pass at 11:35 am. We took a short break and then started the ascent of Mount Field. With fresh snow on the shale, and the mountain becoming more and more covered over in cloud, about two thirds of the way up, we made the decision to abort our ascent. We came back to the Burgess trail, had our lunch and then hiked up a knoll for an excellent view of Mount Burgess. We then descended on the same route we had taken in the morning. We made it back to town about 5:15pm. We had ascended about 1240 meters and hiked approximately 22 kms. Overall a fantastic day!!
