Write Up:A chilly start to our ladies hike but we got warmed up as we hiked the
2km to the turn off for Mount Hoffman.
A wee snack at the rocky viewpoint then off up the trail again to
check out the recent maintenance. The switchbacks have made a huge
difference - no more steep slippery slope but a lovely graded trail
with only one steeper pitch before emerging from the forest.
Here we met the wind and it was definitely a cold one! Layers on at
the top for a quick photo then we dropped down over the back for lunch
in the sun where it was amazingly sheltered from that cold wind.
Hardly anyone else on the trail but lots of deer and big horned sheep
on the drive out in the morning.
Microspikes definitely needed as the trail was icy and snowy apart
from where the wind had blown the top clear.
Stats were 9.6km with 527m of cumulative elevation.
First hike of the new season officially in the books :-)
