Write Up:The new Prairie Mountain trail follows, for the most part, the line of
the old trail although the start is now directly opposite the entrance
to the Elbow Falls car park.
It is more moderate at the beginning then has some switchbacks and 2
sets of rock steps higher up. Still a steep grind though!
The last part to the summit has been moved closer to the edge which is
fine til it snows and the cornice starts to form but by then folks
will hopefully just avoid walking on the snow.
Coming down was definitely faster but care still needs to be taken not
to roll on those rock marbles.
Wet or icy conditions will still make this a tricky trail.
Curiosity satisfied most of us decided that we don't need to do this
again anytime soon ;-)
