Write Up:
Haig Ridge was definitely not for the faint hearted! After looking at the route up the scree to the col above Paradise Lake we decided to tackle the ridge from a different angle up a grassy slope - it was steeper and longer than it looked. We also realised that we actually had to crest the ridge to find the trail down to make our loop, we couldn't join it from part way up as quite a few of us were hoping. The trail, once we found it, was a very rough ski access road for a large part of the descent - no fun at all, especially on a very hot day! We were very happy to return to the Castle Mountain resort where the office was open and we were able to fill our water bottles. Met a very friendly collie named Rosie in the office too. If anyone wants to hike this in the future we are all busy that day ;-) Stats were 10.6km and 790m of elevation gain!
