Write Up:It was a beautiful day for exploring in our backyard!
We encountered some snow along the way but no spikes were required.
There were some slick muddy spots on the Back Door Trail descent as my
hiking pants will attest to ;-)
Even the bushwacking through the downed trees at the top of Mesa Butte
to the Back Door Trail seemed easier than the last time I attempted it
- 4 sets of eyes found the best route through.
Lunch was at the top of Humpty's Hill where we happened across a
geocache.
Then it was on to explore Jill's Hill - sorry Humpty but you have been
bumped! Jill's hill was far nicer with a walk up the open spine to
great views at the top.
We returned along the Mesa Traverse trail at the base of Mesa Butte
before one final climb up the Curley Connector to return to our
vehicles.
Jack's Hill and Hickory hill are also in the area so maybe next time
we'll explore those ones.
Stats - 12.2km with 632m of cumulative elevation (5 hills along the
way)
