ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!
And we decided that this is our new favourite larch hike!
I'd read that there were some larches up there but did not imagine
that there would be so many.
We encountered some on our climb up the creek drainage and then in the
forest before we crested the ridge but the main spectacle was in the
basin below Piggy Plus.
At this point we decided to forgo the steep scree climb to the col and
instead wander among the larches of all colours from green through to
gold to the north west viewpoint which gave us views towards Burstall
Pass and of the mountains on that side of the valley.
We didn't see another hiker from the time that we turned off the main
Burstall Pass trail :-)
