Write Up:
A lovely trail through forest burnt in the 2017 Kenow wildfire then into mature forest untouched by the fire before reaching an open meadow with great views of Lineham ridge. At this point we decided to stay in the sun and climb steeply towards the ridge as opposed to climbing steeply in the shade to the Upper Rowe Lake. It was a great choice as we enjoyed ever expanding views back down the valley, lots of larches and 5 beautiful Bighorn sheep. The head honcho got on his feet to keep an eye on us while his harem continued to graze unperturbed by our presence. After a leisurely lunch in the sunshine we headed back down the trail saving the last push to the summit viewpoint for another day and saving our energy for our big hike on Carthew Alderson the next day. We did take the short side trail to enjoy a snack at the Lower Rowe lake on our way down, along with a feet freezing dip in the creek just before returning to the trailhead.
