Write Up:Lots of changing terrain as we made our way up the trail to the
top of Table Mtn.
Did I say 'up'? That we certainly did - up to the first viewpoint
with a bench to rest on, up again over rockier terrain to a second
viewpoint, then steeply up again to the Western summit where we
could look down on Beaver Mines lake and our vehicles. We had a
first lunch here before a more gentle ascent through a large stand
of larches to the summit of Table Mtn at 2225m. Here we enjoyed
fabulous 360 views on an almost windless day which is very unusual
for the area. The clouds were fast approaching though so we
retreated to a point halfway down the trail to have the rest of
our lunches. A few raindrops caught up with us as we descended
past the bench with the bulk of the hike completed. 872m
cumulative elevation gain and a round trip of 12.4km made us weary
but happy hikers :-)
