Write Up:
There was a chilly wind at the trailhead but once we crossed the meadow and got into the trees we found shelter from the wind. There were some icy sections along the way but we managed to hike around them for the most part without the need for our microspikes. After a wee snack at the Broken Bridges picnic site we started climbing high above the riverbank, and over lots of fallen trees, to enjoy views south down the Kanananskis Valley. Lunch was also enjoyed with a view of the valley. We finished our hike with a visit to the Bonsai Rocks, now renamed the St Bernard Rocks since I thought that one of them looked like a St Bernard ;-) After that it was a short walk back across the meadow to our vehicles. If you are looking for a quiet trail check this area out. Stats were 11.4km with 347m of cumulative elevation.
