On Day 3 we were "blessed" with a fair amount of rain. We planned to
explore to the end of Rostrum Trail which took us through meadow and
flowered hillsides. Along the way, we disturbed a grizzly that was
happily digging up roots (ground squirrels?) along the trail, but it
took off when it heard us approaching, so we saw only its tail end at
a good distance. Again, the scenery was fantastic with fog sitting in
the valley and mist making trees look like ghosts. We didn't make it
to the end because the trail became "iffy" from all the moisture. A
day's hike became a half-day's outing.
