Write Up:Mt. Lipsett is an outlier of Mist Mountain just south of Highwood Pass
and a great viewpoint. Our group was composed of seven experienced
hikers and a new member Claire who fit well. The hike provided us
with good socializing and a healthy exercise under the hot July sun
without straining ourselves. A cold wind on the summit gave us a
chance to cool down. There were no biting insects as previous cold
spells killed them all. The large number of people on the trail
created an atmosphere of hiking in Europe rather than in the Canadian
wilderness. It took us five and half hours to complete the hike, with
two good rest breaks on the way up and one on the way down and a long
lunch on the summit. The trip statistics, provided by Jim, showed
14.5 km, 730 m cumulative elevation gain, moving time 3h 31minutes,
average moving pace 14 min 34 sec/km or 4.1 km/hour Peter Minarik
