Write Up:Seven of us from the Club and five Kamloops folk spent a wonderful
four days at Sentry Lodge and hiking in alpine terrain. We first all
met in Golden, BC, on July 23 for dinner at Eleven22--an excellent
restaurant where I have eaten on a number of occasions when in Golden.
We helicoptered in to the Lodge on the 24th and began with a half-day
hike that day, followed by hikes each day of 7-10 km and 300-700 m
elevation gain, depending on what hikes were offered and what each
hiker wanted to do. An excellent team of two very professional guides
and a chef who provided excellent meals, feeding us extremely well,
added to the experience. Although the sky was mostly grey and the days
rather cool, we had very good visibility and few bugs. The flowers
were abundant and brilliant. It was difficult to say good-bye to our
time at Sentry Lodge.
