Write Up:
Five of us struck out to ascend Castle Mountain. After some exploring and listening to the locals, we found a preferable access to the trailhead from which to start the hike. We started on the Roots Trail and soon came to the intersection for the Hyperventilation Trail. We kept a steady pace, enjoying the views along the way and the many colourful flowers. On the summit we went slightly inward finding some logs to sit on, making a pleasant lunch spot. After a leisurely lunch we made our way down, returning to our trailhead. We had pleasant weather, warm and sunny. Occasionally a refreshing breeze passed through. Our hike elevation gain was 472 m, over a return kilometer count of 9. Actual hiking time was 3 hours. Very enjoyable and worthwhile hike.
