Write Up:This well-used path was a great “Welcome-to-Fernie” aperitif. A helpful map was provided at
the Visitor Information centre. After crossing above the falls you avoid the path labelled Mt.
Proctor and follow the path leading downhill, even though at times it takes you away from the
creek a bit. There is a “Return to Parking” sign which some in our group felt might be
indicating a return via the path on which we had arrived, since it was a little askew. The path
soon takes you out from under the trees and joins the dirt road labeled “Burma Road” on
Google. This passes a “City” of Fernie water purification (chlorine)plant and leads through a
gate which is not always open before 9 am. The trailhead for Mt Fernie is also along this road,
below the gate to the plant. The wildflowers were lovely on this sunny part of the loop.
Remind yourself to turn around at intervals and enjoy the view looking up towards Mt Proctor
and the three sisters. Lovely group to hike with!
