Write Up:Our original plan was to hike Plateau Mountain but because of a washout on Highway 940 we
were scrambling to find an alternative. Yamnuska seemed like the best choice. Most of the
original group stayed with us and persevered.
Everyone managed to find a parking spot despite the almost packed parking lot at the trail
head. Hiking the trail to the west col and up the backside to the peak proved to be wonderful.
We practically had the trail to ourselves for the first part of the day. Most hikers in the
parking lot were climbers or doing the traverse.
The distance covered was 9.8km with an elevation gain of 866m. Perfect weather and a big
thank you to a great group of hikers for such a fantastic day.
