Write Up:
The first section of the trail continues to be covered in many downed trees. However, a new path is developing in the cut block on the left side that helps to get past this tricky section. The remainder of the trail is in good condition. The day was cloudy and lunch was at the top of the third hill in the trees as it was quite windy and cold. Three mustang horses were spotted in the morning across the road on the Rainy Creek side. When we returned after lunch they had crossed back over and were in the cut block on our side. We were lucky to see them up close. They did not seem to be bothered by us. On the way home, another mustang was sitting in the grass near the road close to the Gooseberry campground. A number of deer spotted near the road. Companionable group and a very good day on the trail.
