Write Up:This is a fabulous hike, with or without fully dressed larches. The
trade-off was a carpet of gold. Once past Elbow Lake, the views become
spectacular with Mounts Rae, Elpoca and Tombstone dominating the valley.
The trail seemed quite different than the one we hiked last November in
a wintry blast. The one we took then was quite strenuous and challenging
given the conditions and the route finding, but this trail was gentle
and circumnavigated the hills. For the last km or so we hiked up a tight
little trail through the trees to the beautiful Rae Lake. The weather,
the company and the stunning scenery --- coming and going --- were well
worth it. A gem!
