Write Up:Windtower hike is a 11.2 km hike with an elevation of 988 m. Yes, it
was windy in the open and especially at the top, but we were prepared
for it as we huddled in the carefully constructed shelter to have our
lunch. The trail from West Wind Pass was well marked with cairns and
we were surprised by the number of rock outcroppings that we had to
scale, none of them difficult. On the way back we could better
appreciate the stunning fall colors and the great view of the Spray
Lakes. We had a leisurely hike back as we took yet another picture.
All Trails describes Windtower as a lightly traveled trail and all day
we only saw one couple on the trail. We all agreed it was a gem that
we have to include more often in our repertoire of hikes.
